Hobbies

working @home lets me indulge myself:

i dedicate myself to my favorite things;

Family & Home
we've been married 32 years! son #1 and his peach of a wife just celebrated their 3rd anniversary; their baby boy (our first perfect grandbaby) just celebrated his 2nd birthday! #2 son and my honey's dog are still living at home with us. i'm adding a page, soon, just to show us all off <g>!
Continuing Education
i'm compulsive about learning new things. one of the best ways to do this is online. i get to wear my fuzzy slippers to "class" and drink all the coffee i please (and i can go to class any time). as soon as i update all the links, you'll be able to visit some of my "classwork" pages.
Needlework
i really am addicted to all kinds of needlework: knitting, crochet, cross stitch, embroidery, needlepoint, beadwork, macramé, etc. i'm learning how to spin my own wool, and just acquired a knitting board (for doubleknitting). i design some of my own work, too. this is another page on my "to do" list.
Dollhouse Miniatures
dollhouses are fun to build when you have the space. usually i don't, so i tend to build boxes of miniature rooms. lately,however, i discovered 1/4"-scale miniatures and it looks like i might be able to work on those in just the corner of my studio desk. the most fun is finding real size objects that look like something else in miniature (such as using a toothpaste tube cap as a miniature trash bin).
Cake Decorating
all my old cake decorating directions were on loose-leaf pages (kitchen stained and fading) in the spice cabinet. i just got a new flatbed scanner and have delighted in transferring the patterns to digital format. my eyes aren't too old, yet, but i've discovered the patterns are much easier to read, now that i've used OCR to convert them from an all caps format to a more easily read sentence case. WOW! just recently, my husband (re-)discovered a box of old photos: guess what some of those photos were? i'm going to enjoy adding them to the recipes library.
Science Fiction
and fantasy, too. i'll admit it -- i'm a firm believer in peter pan (i won't grow up!). i collect children's stories and the SF/sci-fi / fantasy section is where i browse 1st at the library or bookstore. every wall in my house is lined with books of all types, however; arts and crafts, history, business, technical, and (of course) science fiction and fantasy.
Dragons & Frogs
i was born in the year of the dragon (you can guess which one - i won't tell). i'm also a moonchild (translate that to cancer, the crab). maybe that's why i'm sometimes called "the dragon lady". there are dragons, moons and stars all over my house. there are also frogs. did you know that the frog is the first indication of an endangered environment?
